Top 10 Twitter Tools (Continued)

In Friday's post, I gave you the first 5 of my 10 best Twitter tools.  The first 5 tools on my list were focused on keeping track of and organizing your followers and who you are following.  The next five tools are geared more toward Twitter content.  So back to the countdown.

5.  Buffer - This tool will analyze both your Twitter and Facebook account and determine what time of day your followers are on Twitter and when you receive the most retweets.  After your best times are analyzed and picked you can add updates to your buffer and they will automatically be sent at your scheduled best times of day.   Buffer also helps to not overwhelm your followers with too many tweets at one time.  Instead just add the post to your buffer.  They also have browser extensions to add to your buffer from any website.

6.  Tweepi - Tweepi allows you to make sense of your Twitter account.   The dashboard will tell you how many people you are following that aren't following you back and vise versa with easy options to clean these up.  You can also choose to follow users based on user lists or a certain user's followers and even analyze other Twitter user's accounts.  When you are choosing who to follow or unfollow, you can sort your list by certain criteria.  You can see Klout scores, when last tweeted, how many tweets and retweets, if validated or not, how many followers and following and more.

7.  Twylah -   Twylah takes the mess out of your Twitter stream.  It filters and arranges your account into a single page that sums up who you are and what you talk about.

8.  Twitter Karma -   It's a flash application that fetches your friends and followers and displays them, letting you quickly navigate through them.  By default, the list is sorted by last update, showing those that most recently updated first.  You can sort the list alphabetically either ascending or descending by Twitter ID. You can filter the list in several ways: only friends or only followers, all friends or all followers, and mutual friends.

9.  Strawberry Jam -  This tool goes through the links in your Twitter account and picks out the most popular ones.  You can show popular links form the last 24, 16 or 8 hours.  You can also search anything you like and get the popular links for that topic.  This tool helps you stay in tune with your followers and what they are talking about.

10.   Who Tweeted Me -    Content analytics from Hubspot.   This tool will analyze a URL and show you its most influential retweeters, potential reach and timeline. Due to Twitter API limitations, It works best on blog post URLs that are between 1 day and 2 weeks old.

These are the tools that helped me get my Twitter account back on track, and I hope you find them useful also.  If you have a favorite free Twitter tool, please comment below and share.

Top 10 Free Twitter Tools

I have been a member of Twitter for a little while now, and had about 1400 followers.  Then I got "Twitter Lazy".  I was not very active for a few months.  One day I got an e-mail from Twitter Counter with my stats.  I had not checked out my twitter stats in some time, and I am so glad that I did.  I had started losing followers at an increasingly steady pace.  My follower count had fell below 1200.

I decided that I needed to take immediate action.  I realized I was not using twitter properly and therefore not receiving any of the benefits from my account.  I am sure you have heard these basic Twitter rules before, but they are very true.  You MUST engage your followers, respond to tweets and mentions.  Thank your followers when they mention you or give you a retweet. The other main rule is to tweet quality content.  Your tweets should be interesting, helpful, humorous or inspiring to your followers.

I immediately started following these 2 simple rules and was quite impressed with the results.  In just a few months, my main (work at home mom ) account just passed 2000 followers.  I also started a 2nd Twitter account (movies & television) to go with my new blog, at around the same time.  I now have almost 400 followers of that account.  So, I figure just from a little extra effort I gained approximately 1200 new connections.  I have met some great people, gained some valuable information, received referrals, got some laughs and more.

During this process I also found some tools that help me do this easily and save me time.  I picked my favorites and developed a list of My Top 10 Twitter Tools.  These are all free to use.  Some have upgrade uptions for more detailed stats, but I am doing just fine without paying.  To not make this post too long, I will post the first five today and the other five on Sunday.

  1. Twitter Counter - I receive a weekly email with my account stats.  It tells you how many new followers gained and predicts how many you will gain or lose next week.  Graphs display your tweeting activity and you can also compare your stats with another Twitter account's stats.  Alerts and automatic tweets can be set for reaching Twitter milestones.
  2. Follow Friday Helper -  This tool keeps track of all the people that have mentioned and retweeted you along with the details of those tweets..  You can easily tweet responses with tags such as #FollowFriday, #Gratitude, #TY, #MustFollow.  One easy click on whoever you want to add to the tweet and send.
  3. Formulists - This is the best tool for organizing your twitter account.  You can create lists of your followers or whom you are following by filtering into different categories.  For example, I have lists of new followers, who retweet me the most, have form of blog in Twitter bio and have marketing included in bio.  You can filter by location, when last tweeted, bio information, key words and etc.  These lists are self- updating, so it does all the work for you.
  4. True Twit - This is a Twitter validation tool to avoid robots and spammers.   All of your new followers are sent a validation request via direct message. If your follower successfully completes the CAPTCHA (or is already a TrueTwit user), you are sent an email indicating they are a TrueTwit-validated human!  You can also choose to auto-follow new validated users and auto-unfollow users that have unfollowed you.
  5. TwitPic -  Share media on Twitter in real time.  You can post photos or videos to TwitPic from your phone, from the site, or through email.  Also view other popular or trending pics.
  6.

Remember to check back Sunday for 5 more top tools to improve your Twitter experience.  Until then, wishing you Happy Tweeting:)

Empire Avenue Review Update

I wanted to post an update of my experience since I've been playing Empire Avenue.  If you haven't heard of Empire Avenue yet, check out my previous post Empire Avenue-The Social Stock Market.

A couple of weeks ago I participated in Empire Avenue's Pendapalooza.  It was a 24 hr event in which you posted your ticker and people would start buying your shares.  I had no idea what a success this event would be.  I thought it just might help me get a few more investors, but it was a 24 hr buying frenzy.  I also bought some shares back in anyone who invested in me and it was actually fun.  Some think of Empire Avenue as only a game, but to me it has been so much more.  I have gained a lot of new and valuable connections.

I kept some rough stats from that 24 hr event to help show how Empire Aveneue can help you and your business grow.

Gained during 24 hr Pendapalooza event:
+6.045 a share increase
11 new achievements
58 new shareholders
added to 12 lists
42 endorsements
26 Blog views
New Connections
Twitter - 9
Tumbler - 8
Facebook - 6
Google Circles - 9
Youtube - 3
Flickr - 5
Foursquare - 3
Get Glue - 3

I continue to play, logging in about every other day, and the numbers continue to rise.  The connections I have made here are such an asset to my marketing and to me personally.  I've noticed a lot of people who are just starting online, only like to join and participate in programs that show them some immediate cash.  I don't believe that is the way to go.  You need to network, brand yourself, learn and share if you want to make any real money online.  Besides, you might be surprised at the amazing people you can meet if you just take the time.

Top 10 Topics To Blog About

Author: Sarah Carter
Business blogging has many advantages. Blogging gives your company a chance to engage with your customers in a less formal setting than on your company website. A blog serves as an online platform for you to let your customers and potential customers in on some behind-the-scenes details about your company, highlight new products, announce special promotions and more.  It can also be great for your SEO efforts. However, just creating a blog won't do anything; you need to actually write in it, a lot. Many companies blog weekly or even daily, which means you need some great content to keep your readers interested. Are you dealing with writer's block every time you sit down to compose a blog? Here are 10 great topics to help you get started.

  • Summarize an industry-related news story. At the end of your post, link to the original news story and say something like "read the full article here." If you do this often, people will start to think of you as a resource for the latest updates in the industry, which means they'll check back often to stay in-the-know.

  • Put the spotlight on an employee or current customer. This allows others to get to know people who use your product or service as well as your employees. It humanizes the company which makes it easier for people to trust and relate to you.

  • Share details about a recent company event. Whether you want to make an announcement about when, where and why the event is happening or share photos and details about how the event went, your business blog is a great platform to do so.

  • Post a video. Create an entertaining video that pertains to your company or industry and post it on your blog with a short summary paragraph.  If you can, make it funny, people are more likely to share a funny video with friends. Funny and entertaining videos will also help keep your brand in people's minds.

  • Write a how-to post. How-to's are one of the most popular blog entries. Did you know that 80% of people who visit a blog are visiting it for the first time? This is because they were searching for information (such as how to do something) that they found on the blog. Once they're reading on your blog, they're more likely to search through your other entries, then hopefully your website.

  • Describe little known 3rd party products that work well with your product. This is useful information that your target audience (customers or potential customers) would be interested to know.

  • Answer a common customer support question. This will not only help your customers but it also shows them that you genuinely care. Potential customers will see this and instantly gain more trust in your business.

  • Highlight a product or service. If there's a particular product or service you are promoting this month, feature it on your blog. Include a photo and let your readers know how this product or service makes their life easier, healthier, happier, more successful, etc.

  • Provide tips and tricks of the trade. Share some inside information on your industry with your readers. Giving them information they find interesting or useful but can't get anywhere else is one way to get them to come back and read in the future.

  • Ask your customers' opinion. Want to know whether or not people liked your newest product? Post a few poll questions as a blog. Encourage people to leave their opinion in the comments section. It's an excellent way to get feedback about your product or service from the people who matter most, your customers. It also shows customers your company cares about what they think and you're working to ensure they have an excellent experience.

The possibilities are endless when you're coming up with things to write about for your business blog. It's important to always put yourself in your target audience's shoes. Think about what they would be interested in reading about. What kind of information would entice them to read then motivate them to share with their friends? Then start blogging! They'll appreciate your thoughtful and original content and return to read. Readers will hopefully turn into customers who will then eventually turn into advocates for your brand.

3 Weeks To Form A Habit

Experts agree it takes 21 days to break a bad habit and form a new one.

Bad habits are easy to make, but extremely hard to end. Good habits, on the other hand, tend to take more time to make. Luckily, scientists agree that the average person needs at least 3 weeks to form a good habit.

If you're trying to start a good habit, then you probably had a bad habit to begin with. If so,
empty your house and work space of the thing you're trying to quit, or any item that may make you want to end the habit-making process. If you want to quit smoking, get rid of cigarettes. If you want to eat healthier, get rid of most unhealthy foods in you pantry etc.

There are so many things we do in our daily lives that have become a "habit". Brushing our teeth is habit. How you answer the phone is a habit. The way you sit in the car when your driving is a habit. Have you ever tried to change the way you do something, after you've done it one certain way for so long. It's easy to do as long as your thinking about it. The minute your mind drifts to something else, you go right back to the old way of doing things. What is a "habit" anyway? It's a way of doing things that has become routine or commonplace. To change an existing habit or form a new one, can be a tedious task.

Fatigue, boredom, depression, stress can all make it difficult to stick with your program. But having a relapse isn't as important as how you deal with the relapse. If you are so devastated by failure that you call your good intentions into question, that will make habit change harder for you. But, if you allow for an occasional relapse and treat it as nothing more than a slight misstep that teaches you something, then you're on the right track.

The following are some suggestions to follow each day in order to sustain motivation and determination:

1.  Review your list of reasons for quitting or changing.

2.  Create mental pictures of yourself as having already succeeded with your habit change.

3.  Make affirmations, positive self-statements about your habit change. For example, "I am filled with so much health and vitality now that I exercise four times a week."

4.  Reward yourself. Make up a list of self-rewards. Reward yourself verbally.

Remember to take one day at a time. If you do backslide, don't label yourself as having failed. Get out your list or reasons for quitting or changing and begin again.

Cash For Your Used Books

Do you like to read?
Do you have a lot of books taking up space?
Do you like extra money?

If you answered YES to any of these questions, then I have a great way for you to make some extra cash. Sell your used books online at Cash4Books.
I have sold text, reference, fiction and non-fiction books with this site. It is so quick and easy.
Just look on the back of your book for the ISBN number that is right above the bar code. It is either a 10 or 13 digit number. Enter this number and Cash4Books will instantly let you know if they are purchasing this title and if so, will give you an instant quote. After you have entered all your books and have your quote, instantly print out the pre-paid shipping label. Than just put them in a box and ship.
They don't give quotes on antique books. The newer the book, the higher the quote.
Within 3-5 days of receiving your books you will receive a credit in your paypal account. If you do not have a Paypal account, you can choose to have a check sent to you.
I made a little over $100 for selling 16 books. That's some nice extra cash, especially with these rising gas prices.
So, you may want to clean out your closet and make some easy money. Get cash back fast, shipping is free and no fees.

Free Gift

In the never ending quest to drive targeted traffic to our websites there is one form of advertising that is often ignored even though it produces some amazing results when used correctly.

I am talking about safelist marketing.

Safelists are a great way to drive targeted traffic to your sites but if you don't know what you are doing you could find yourself wasting a lot of time and money.

That is why you should check out Jerry Iannucci's "Safelist Marketing Tactics"...

Jerry has created a guidebook that shows you the PROPER way to market with safelists and this stuff really works!

Inside you will discover...

- How to drastically reduce the time spent clicking for credits while still sending your ads to the maximum number of readers.

- How to setup your inbox to make managing multiple safelist accounts a breeze.

- How to stand out from the competition by creating stunning html emails with just a few clicks of your mouse.

- How one simple safelist email can generate multiple streams of income for you over and over again.

And a whole lot more!

You can download a free copy from:
==>SAFELIST MARKETING TACTICS

I am also doing some tracking research on my safelist advertising. I will post the results in the next few weeks. I use several mailers, so be sure to check back and see which sites gave me the best results and why.

Spring Break Contest!!!

Can you survive Spring Break 2011?

I'm hosting a virtual investment contest on Updown.com!

I'm from the Texas gulf coast so of course Spring Break is a very big event.  We have 100's of thousands of people flood our city and beaches. What do tons of young, carefree, ready to party individuals equal?  They equal $$$ revenue.  Some local businesses rely on their spring break revenue to sustain them for the entire year.
So in the spirit of making money, belly shots, bikinis and hangovers,  I started a friendly Spring Break Contest on UpDown.  I have mentioned UpDown in a previous post.  It is a great site to practice investing.  You manage a $1,000,000 virtual portfoilio.  It's free to join and depending on your performance, you can earn real money.
Come join me and see who can survive Spring Break 2011.  You can still join until Feb. 20th and the contest ends on April 15th.
I have never been good at keeping secrets, so sshhh......there may even be a prize.  More will be revealed about that as the contest progresses.

Here are some current standings.
