I found a really neat way to remind your loved ones just how much you love them. It's close to Valentine's Day, so what better time to start hiding some SHMILY coins for my family and friends to find.
SHMILY stands for See How Much I Love You! The SHMILY story began with a couple that were married for over half a century and played their very own special game all those years from the time they met. The game goal was to write the word SHMILY in a surprise place for the other to find. The fun was also in finding places to leave the word SHMILY. They would write it in the steam left on the bathroom mirror, notes in shoes and under pillows. You can read the full story at SHMILY coins.
This story inspired the creation of a wooden SHMILY coin that would be fun to give back and forth. I had a great time hiding the coins for my daughter and hubby. It didn't take long for them to get into the SHMILY spirit. I found a coin this morning in the bottom of the sugar bowl. My hubby put it there because he knows that every morning I like to have what he calls "some coffee with my sugar":) I put one in my daughter's lunchbox and she gave me a great big hug when she got home from school.
If you want to find out how to get your own SHMILY coins to surprise your friends and family with, you can also find them on Facebook. SHMILY coins fan page If you're looking for a different Valentine's Day gift than the usual flowers and chocolate, these would be a great idea.
Can you think of any neat place to hide a coin? Please share any hiding spots where you would leave a SHMILY coin for your loved one. I bet we could come up with some great hiding places. You can see a couple we used in the pictures below.
