Do You Take Enough Steps Each Day?

Ozeri Digital Pedometer

Do you know how many steps a day you take?  Most doctors recommend 10,000 a day for adults, 12,000 for girls and 15,000 for boys to have a healthy active lifestyle.  Unfortunately, the average American only takes 3000 - 5000 steps per day.  I was curious as to which category I would fall into.

I started my research using the Ozeri 4x3runner Digital Pocket 3D Pedometer.  This is the first pedometer to feature dual walking and running modes with 3-D tri-axis technology for accuracy.  It comes with full instructions, belt clip, a lanyard and lithium battery.
Ozeri 4x3runner digital pedometer
Additional Features:

  • Counts up to 1 million steps
  • Clock and exercise timer
  • Auto sleep mode
  • Pocket size
  • Tracks daily goal progress
  • Water resistant
  • Tracks your steps, speed, distance, calories and fat burned

First wanted to see how many steps I averaged during a regular busy day, where I hardly sit down for any length of time.  I was hopeful in thinking that it had to be close to 10,000 as tired as I would be at the end of the day.  I was a little disappointed to learn I only averaged 3800 - 4700 steps per day.

I told myself that just won't do and I need to kick it up a notch.  I used to walk regularly and enjoy it, but things get busy and I fell out of the habit.  Now is a good time to start that habit back up and get closer to those 10,000 steps a day.

I have the pedometer on me almost all the time.  It's nice and skinny so I can throw it in my pocket or clip it on my pants depending on what I'm wearing.  It keeps it's accuracy wherever I stick it.  I don't jog, but so far the walking mode is working great for me.

I have had a couple cheap pedometers before that always broke within a few weeks and only had a couple of features.  I definitely prefer the Ozeri.  It seems to be pretty durable also as I have hit it on the counter and dropped it a couple of times and still good as new.

Ozeri Precision Digital Bathroom Scale Review

Ozeri Digital Scale

I have been wanting a digital scale for quite awhile.  I was still using one of those old fashioned ones that I couldn't even see well enough to tell exactly which line it was on.  I am so glad that I can now see exactly how much I weigh easily with the Ozeri Precision Digital Bathroom Scale.

This scale has the following features:

  • Uses 4 precision GX sensors that weigh up to 400 lbs.
  • Award winning design has an oversized platform made of impact-resistant tempered glass
  • New InstaOn technology captures weight upon contact ( no tapping required)
  • Button to easily switch from lbs, kg and st
  • Runs on 1 Lithium 2032 battery for better performance
  • 1 year warranty
My favorite features are:

  • New widescreen LCD shows easy to read and immediate results
  • Auto calibrates
  • Turns off to conserve battery
  • Low battery indicator light

When I first opened my scale, I couldn't believe how thin it is. I also like the sleek design, so it will match any bathroom decor.  I am very satisfied with this digital scale.  It also seems that everyone who happens to pass through my bathroom must also like it, because they can't leave without stepping on it.

You can buy the Ozeri Precision Digital Bath Scale (400 lb Edition) with Widescreen LCD and Step-on Activation, in White at Amazon and save $30 - On Sale for $14.95.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

#RevoltNowFit - Week 5 Update

Memorial Day and week 5 of Revolt Fitness with Nicole Huntsman.  This was a hard week with all the cookouts and yummy desserts everywhere.  Even harder than not eating my weight in barbeque and fudge brownies, was the week of cardio workouts.

One word of advice for any mom..... Do not play Just Dance with your daughter on the Wii before working out.   I don't know what I was thinking that day.  I sure was tired and a little sore too.  That's when I received the old classic lines "No Pain, No, Gain"  and "Feel The Burn" from my hubby who thinks he's funny:)

Why not try a Free workout and "Feel The Burn" for yourself!  You just might like it and even feel good when you've finished.  Now go ahead and get your butt off the couch and do some exercises with Nicole.  It will only take a few minutes.

Well , how did it go?  I enjoy the workouts the more I do them.  You're not always doing the same exercises everyday.  Having a mix of exercises keeps me from getting bored and I actually looking forward to the next one.

You can continue to work out with Nicole, get a monthly meal plan and much more for only $10 a month.

Check back next week for my update after participating  in the program for 6 weeks.  I will post all my before and after measurements and hopefully some before and after pictures too.  I'll try not to chicken out:)

#RevoltNowFit - Week 4 Update

I have been doing the Revolt Fitness Program for 4 weeks now.   I may have started off slow, but each week I improve a little.  I have noticed that I have more stamina and don't get out of breath as easy as I did when I started this journey.

I still prefer the body sculpting workouts to the cardio workouts and that probably won't change.  Also after 4 weeks, I don't get as sore  and my thighs don't feel like they're going to fall off.  I do need to do more bicep curls with my left arm.  I was kind of surprised that my right arm is about 3/4 of an inch bigger.  I never noticed  this in the mirror until I measured myself at the start of the program.

Here are a few stats so far.  I have gained a pound, but I expect that.  It's a good thing to me and means I am adding muscle.  The main reason I started a fitness program is to tone and strengthen.   There isn't a big change in any of my numbers, but I can feel the difference.

Week 1 - start Revolt

Weight - 100 lbs.
Biceps - 9 in.
Chest - 33 in.
Waist - 25 in.
Hips -   34 in.
Thighs - 16 1/4 in.

Week 4

Weight - 101 lbs. (+1 lb.)
Biceps -   9 in.
Chest -  33 in.
Waist - 24 3/4 in. (-1/4 in.)
Hips -   34 in.
Thighs - 16 1/2 in. (+1/4 in.)

My daughter came home from school the other day and asked me, "Did you Revolt today, mama?"  I told her yes and that I did the upper body sculpting workout.  She says, "Let me see your muscles."  She just cracks me up.  Anyway, I thought I would make it fun and told her to grab a camera and I would show her my little muscles:)

#RevoltNowFit - Week 3

Revolt with Nicole Huntsman

I have completed half of my first Revolt Six Week Uprising.  I wish I could say how much improvement I've made or how proud I am of myself, but I didn't and I can't.  It makes we want to cry.  I am even late writing this week's post because I didn't know how to make my week 3 update not sound so bad.  So I'm not going to, as it has always been my personal motto to 'keep it real' on my blog.

This is an excellent fitness program and I actually do like the workouts.  So what is my problem?  I start off the week well, but then don't end the week so well.  I could blame last week's failures on getting ready for vacation and moving or me getting sick in the middle of the week, but these are just excuses.  I will tell myself that I'll do my workout after I do this or that and then it's late and I'm too tired.  I must find a way to  make myself workout in the morning, or it just won't happen.

I wish Nicole could reach through my computer screen and slap me around every once in a while.  Seriously though, I only have 3 weeks to get this body tone for vacation.  It's time for me to kick myself in the ass and start buckling down.

Revolt Fitness Update - Week 2

Revolt Fitness - Week 2

Well, I have made it through week 2 on Revolt.  If you missed my first week's post, you can catch up here>>I Want To Revolt Now!

I did do better than last week, but I still struggle with the diet some.  I enjoyed the chicken breasts, salads and luckily I love raisins.  As for the smoothies,  I did cheat a little. I just made a fruit smoothie and left out the parsley and kale.  I figured that was better than skipping it all together.

I do like that the Revolt diet, along with the approved foods list, also gives you a list of foods you can use to substitute for things you don't like.  You get some great recipes to help out too, such as lava cake.  That just sounds yummy.

hand weights and yoga mat I am getting better with the workouts.  I was at least able to finish them this week.  I try to keep up with Nicole the best I can.  Sometimes I don't get in as many reps, but this will improve the more I do it.  I also have to remember to breath.  It sounds silly, but when I concentrate on my breathing it helps me last longer.

I received my weights and exercise mat this week.  You can get these items fairly cheap.  I spent around $30 for two 5lb hand weights and a fitness yoga mat on Amazon.  Now I really feel like a workout chic.

I'm happy to say that I wasn't as sore as I was the first week.  I really like the upper and lower body sculpting workouts and I feel pretty good afterwards.  The cardio workout is the one that is harder for me, but I have faith that I'll improve.

As I have said before, I don't need to lose weight.  I just want to tone and strengthen for a healthier me.  My measurements and weight have not changed, but I didn't expect them to right away.

This is really a great program for newbies or workout pros.  You can Revolt with me and start getting fit.  Click below and check it out for yourself.

I Want To Revolt Now!

Yes, I have started to REVOLT!  Who am I revolting against?.....Myself, of course.

This year I told myself I was going to start working out again and take better care of myself.  I really mean is now that I've hit my 40's I require more maintenance - more often:)

Right before I became pregnant with my daughter, I was in the best physical shape of my life.  I was working a physically demanding job and was proud of how strong and fit I had become.  I had just hit 30 and never had any problems with my weight. I ate whatever I wanted, worked out only here and there and it was smooth sailing.

Now my daughter is 9 years old and smooth sailing has hit some choppy waves.  I quit my very physical tiling job to stay at home with my daughter.  I am lucky that I still don't have any weight issues, but I have become severely out of shape.  Since becoming a blogger, my butt spends way too much time glued to the couch in front of my laptop.  In fact, I seem to have lost it somewhere and developed an extremely serious  case of flat ass.

I saw the opportunity to become a #RevoltNowFit blogger and jumped on it.  I thought this would be exactly what I needed to get moving and stay motivated.  My goal is to tone and strengthen every muscle and build stamina.  I want to get out and do the things I used to without getting short of breath or tiring too easy.  I want to be a toned and active 41 year old hottie.

Revolt with Nichole Huntsman week 1

I have received free access to Revolt with  Nicole Huntsman in exchange for weekly blog posts of my fitness progress and honest review of the program.  It is very reasonably priced at only $9.99 a month.  Receive weekly meal plans with recipes and each day's easy to follow workout videos.  Nicole does a fabulous job with the videos.  I like following and listening to her.  Each week's workout includes cardio days and strength training days.  I like that the workouts change from week to week so I won't get bored.

As a Revolt member you also receive access to the "For Members Only" Facebook group.  This group is excellent for moral support, tips, resources and good old motivation.  I believe sharing stories (good and bad) with others going through the same thing is very helpful and comforting.

Revolt detox week diet
I will admit after week 1, I was disappointed in myself.  I knew getting started would be the hardest, but holy crap on a cracker!  I didn't do all the workouts and I'm struggling with the diet.  I'm a pretty picky eater and have a big sweet tooth, but I'm going to keep trying.  And on a side note, Wednesday evening Rachel decided to fall out of a tree and break her arm.  So much for workout fun with mama.

Come see me every Sunday for my weekly updates and information on how to join me on the #RevoltNowFit program.  I will be posting some before pictures with measurements soon and then regularly throughout the next 12 weeks.

Revolt detox diet

I'm looking forward to having crepes tomorrow for breakfast to kick off week 2!  So glad the week 1 detox diet is over.  I really don't want to see another hard boiled egg for quite some time.
