New Prom Dresses & Old Memories

     

I remember looking forward to going prom dress shopping with my mom.  Mom enjoyed picking out different suggestions for me and I loved trying them all on for her.  Surprisingly, it never took me too long too find that perfect dress.
 
It was the late 80's after all, and now I can't believe I thought a couple of them were the "perfect" prom dress.  My freshman year I wore a full length, pink and white striped off the shoulder gown.  For some odd reason I can't remember my sophomore prom dress???  Junior year I wore a teal colored short and strapless dress which the green one below reminded me of.

Then for senior year (1990), I wore the lovely black dress pictured to the right and my friend is in the long white.





Even though the styles and trends come and go, it is always fun to shop for your prom dress.

I've always liked the a-line style dress because it gives you the look of both a long and short style.

As you can tell, I seem partial to strapless also.  It makes me feel more glamorous. 

I like the full length fuscia gown below for feeling like a princess on that special night.

10 Summer Fashion Must Haves

Summer is just around the corner and I have a feeling it's going to be a very busy time for me.  Then again, when am I not busy with a dozen different "to do" lists going on.  This week I started weeding out my closet and dressers.  This is also a good time for me to check all my summer fashion must have items and see if I need to replace or update anything.

I have a top ten summer fashion must haves list.  I could not survive a summer without these front and center in my closet (as no girl should have to:). These are in no particular order as all are equally important to my summer style survival.

1. Flip Flops - I am addicted to flip flops.  I must have a couple pair that are very comfy and go with anything and several others in cute colors and designs for whatever mood I'm in.
2. Sneakers - 1 pair of good walking shoes and 1 pair for when working outside such as gardening or mowing.
3. Jean Shorts - At least half a dozen jean shorts for everyday wear.  
4. Sundress - I like to have a couple sundresses to choose from on those hot days where I feel  like being pretty.
5. Sandals - 1 black and 1 tan  for a change up from my flip flops.
6. Beach Bag - a stylish and colorful tote bag.  I must have a great bag for all my summer outings, whether it's the beach, park, fishing, etc.
7. Swimwear - Basic black bikini, pair of board shorts and a coverup
8. Cowboy Hat - Every Texas beach girl must have a good cowboy hat that doubles as a sun hat.
9. Tank Tops - Several ribbed knit tank tops in various colors
10. Sunglasses - A good pair of black sunglasses and a back up pair as I am always misplacing them.
